Every now and then you run into one of those groups that just hits home and Vokab Kompany did exactly that for me. I found out about them through Signal Path’s latest EP, The Prosaic Fades, when they collaborated on the track “Gangsterer Than Me” which is also on Quit Sleep. These San Diego natives seem to effortlessly break the bounds of genres. ”Their 7 piece band (keyboard / synthesizer, drums, bass, guitar and violin) accompanies the two lead singers / MC’s, Rob Hurt and Burkey Baby.” Not only is the musicianship absolutely spectacular, but Rob and Burkey are both talented singers as well as MC’s with smart lyrics and delivery. Each one of the 11 tracks is unique and brings an interesting element to the album as a whole. You can purchase the album for $9.99 on their Bandcamp page. I will be releasing a charity compilation for Rock Against Cancer this week entitled Spring Forward, and I am fortunate enough to have these guys on board. Stay tuned and be sure to check these guys out. I really like what they are doing. You can get more information on Vokab Kompany including tour dates and other releases at vokabkompany.com. Get your ears wet!
